What makes exemestane different
Aromasin bodybuilding use is chosen for one property the alternatives do not share: it binds the aromatase enzyme irreversibly. Anastrozole and letrozole attach reversibly and release when levels fall; exemestane inactivates the enzyme permanently, so the body must synthesise new enzyme to restore capacity. This section carries 43 lines from £31 to £192, with the midpoint at £86.
Why irreversible binding matters
| Exemestane | Anastrozole / letrozole | |
|---|---|---|
| Binding | Irreversible | Reversible |
| Oestrogen rebound on stopping | Minimal | Possible, sometimes sharp |
| Effect on lipids | More neutral | Negative |
The practical consequence is rebound. Stopping a reversible inhibitor frees the accumulated enzyme at once, which can spike oestradiol at exactly the wrong moment — heading into recovery. Exemestane does not produce that effect to the same degree, which is why it is often preferred at the end of a cycle going into post cycle therapy.
The lipid advantage
Aromatase inhibitors damage HDL, and you are usually running one alongside compounds already doing the same. Exemestane’s comparatively neutral lipid profile is a genuine advantage over the alternatives rather than a marketing point — the comparison across all three is in anastrozole versus exemestane versus letrozole.
Where Aromasin fits in a cycle
Its usual place is the back half of a run and the transition into recovery, precisely because of the rebound property above. Earlier in a cycle a reversible inhibitor is equally effective and generally cheaper, so the argument for exemestane strengthens as the cycle ends. It pairs with a SERM rather than replacing one — tamoxifen restarts signalling, which no aromatase inhibitor does.
Dose from a number, not a protocol
Aromatisation varies enormously between people and between compounds. The same dose that leaves one person in range crashes another, and crashed oestradiol brings joint pain, lost libido, worsened lipids and low mood — frequently mistaken for the cycle not working. A sensitive oestradiol assay alongside total testosterone is the only way to know which problem you have, and the same point applies across the whole oestrogen blocker group. Listings appear as Aromasin, Exemestane and Exedrol; Euro Pharmacies, Magnus Pharmaceuticals and Hilma Biocare carry the deepest ranges.
Frequently asked questions
Does Aromasin increase testosterone?
Indirectly and modestly. Lowering oestradiol reduces negative feedback, which can raise LH slightly — but it is not a testosterone-restoring drug the way a SERM is.
Does Aromasin affect muscle growth?
Not directly. Oestrogen is necessary for several processes including lipids and joint health, so over-suppressing it works against you rather than for you.
Is Aromasin 25 mg suitable for bodybuilding?
That is the standard clinical tablet strength. What proportion of it is appropriate depends on a measured oestradiol reading, not on a general figure.
Does Aromasin permanently block oestrogen?
It inactivates the enzyme molecules it binds permanently, but the body synthesises new enzyme continuously — so the effect ends after the drug does.
Which aromatase inhibitor should be used going into PCT?
Exemestane is generally preferred at that point, because reversible inhibitors can produce an oestrogen rebound just as recovery begins.
