What Winstrol is
Winstrol is the original trade name for stanozolol, a DHT-derived compound sold in both oral and water-based injectable form. It does not aromatise, so it produces no water retention and no oestrogenic side effects from the compound itself — which is why it is associated with a dry, hard look rather than scale weight. This section holds 97 lines from £28 to £358, with the midpoint at just £38, making it one of the cheaper categories in the catalogue.
Oral or injectable
| Oral tablets | Injectable suspension | |
|---|---|---|
| Liver load | Real — 17-alpha-alkylated | Avoids first-pass exposure |
| Frequency | Daily, split doses | Near-daily — no ester to slow it |
| Comfort | No injection | Notably painful; particulate suspension |
| Handling | None | Must be resuspended before every use |
Neither is simply better. The oral trades hepatic load for convenience; the injectable avoids first-pass metabolism but requires near-daily injection of a suspension that settles between uses. We covered the aqueous format in the water-based injectable write-up.
The joint issue nobody advertises
Stanozolol has a well-established reputation for drying joints, and unlike most gym claims this one has a plausible mechanism behind it. Because the compound does not aromatise, oestradiol falls if it is run without an aromatising base — and oestrogen contributes to joint lubrication and collagen synthesis. Users commonly report discomfort, particularly when stacking with other non-aromatising compounds.
Running it alongside a testosterone base largely resolves this, which is one good argument against a stanozolol-only cycle. The lipid picture is the other: HDL falls sharply on this compound, more so than on many aromatising alternatives, because oestrogen is protective for HDL.
Reading the listings
Tablet strengths here run from 5 mg to 50 mg, and the £28-to-£358 spread is almost entirely pack size rather than potency. A 50 mg presentation at four times the price of a 5 mg one carries ten times the total content, so compare cost per milligram rather than per box. La Pharma, British Dispensary and Hemi Pharma carry the deepest ranges.
The compound is also sold under a range of trade names — Winstrol, Stanozolol, Stromba, Azolol, Stanabol and Rexobol among them. Searching one surfaces a fraction of what is stocked, and we mapped the full set in stanozolol under seven different names.
Who it suits, and when it does not
Stanozolol earns its place late in a cut, when body fat is already low enough for the hardening effect to be visible. Run at higher body fat it does very little you can see, for the same reason we set out about masteron — these compounds reveal definition rather than create it. There is no fat-loss mechanism here at all.
It suits anyone prone to oestrogenic side effects, since none originate from this compound. It suits people with existing joint problems poorly, and it suits a first cycle poorly too — the lipid impact is steeper than the mild reputation implies, and a beginner has no baseline to compare bloods against.
Suppression and recovery
Stanozolol suppresses natural testosterone production thoroughly despite its comparatively mild reputation on side effects. That suppression is unrelated to how the cycle felt, and it is the reason recovery planning is not optional — the compounds for it sit in post cycle therapy. Liver markers belong in blood work alongside lipids for anyone running the oral form.
What to have measured
Lipids and liver markers, before and during. Stanozolol is harder on HDL than most aromatising compounds, and the oral form adds hepatic load on top of that. Both are invisible without a blood draw, and both are reversible if caught while the numbers are still moving rather than after they have settled somewhere bad.
Frequently asked questions
Is Winstrol the same as stanozolol?
Yes. Winstrol was the original trade name; stanozolol is the compound. Stromba, Azolol, Stanabol and Rexobol are further brand names for the identical thing.
Is oral or injectable stanozolol better?
Different trade-offs rather than a ranking. Oral is convenient and hepatotoxic; injectable avoids first-pass liver exposure but is uncomfortable and needs near-daily dosing.
Why does Winstrol cause joint pain?
It does not aromatise, so oestradiol falls if no aromatising compound runs alongside — and oestrogen contributes to joint lubrication and collagen synthesis.
Does Winstrol require post cycle therapy?
Yes. Suppression is thorough regardless of the mild side-effect profile, and skipping recovery is the most common and costly error with compounds of this type.
Why is the price range so wide?
Almost entirely pack size and tablet strength rather than compound quality. Work out cost per milligram before comparing two listings.
